The district encompasses an area of 85 square miles, from Jakes Corner on SR 188, south to the town of Roosevelt. It includes the communities of Tonto Basin, Roosevelt, and Jakes Corner.

Established in 1989, the department provides emergency services for over 4,000 residents. There are two manned stations. Station #91 in Tonto Basin and Station #96 in Roosevelt are manned from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. excluding holidays. Station #92 on the east side of Tonto Creek and Station #95 in Jake's Corner are both unmanned. 

We employ 7 Full time Firefighters, 6 FT positions that are a 48/96 shift, Fire Chief, and all others are 11-hour shifts with standby night pay.

Rural fire departments rely on volunteers. Our district is no exception. We cover 80 square miles from Highway 87 south to Roosevelt. The majority of the staff of Tonto Basin Fire District are volunteers. 

We are currently accepting applications for: 
*Volunteer/Reserve Fire Firefighter
*Emergency Response Personnel

Requirements for all applicants:
18 years of age
Valid AZ Driver's License
Clean Driving Record
Background Check/Fingerprinting
Drug Test
