The district encompasses an area of 85 square miles, from Jakes Corner on SR 188, south to the town of Roosevelt. It includes the communities of Tonto Basin, Roosevelt, and Jakes Corner.

Established in 1989, the department provides emergency services for over 4,000 residents. There are two manned stations. Station #1 in Punkin Center and Station #6 in Roosevelt are manned from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Station #2 is unmanned and is located on the east side of Tonto Creek. Station #5 in Jake's Corner is also unmanned.

We employ 8 Full time Firefighters, 4 are Paramedics and the other 4 are EMT's as well.

Volunteers Always Needed:
Rural fire departments rely on volunteers. Our district is no exception. We cover 80 square miles from Highway 87 south to Roosevelt. The majority of the staff of Tonto Basin Fire District are volunteers. We are currently accepting applications for: Volunteer Fire Firefighter and Emergency Response Personnel.

Requirements:
18 years of age
21 years of age for ambulance
Valid AZ Drivers License
Clean Driving Record
Background Check

The district will provide training in CPR, First Aid, Emergency Driving, EMT, and Fire Fighting. If you can volunteer for ANY of these services please contact Tyler Cline at 479-2203.
